One of my biggest pleasures on Medium has been publishing short fiction in the horror publication Keeping It Spooky. The publication has fiction, articles and poetry for fans who like anything that sends a shiver down the spine. My stories belong to a variety of subgenres, with reading times from 10 to 14 minutes. I would love to have more people read them, so if you’re interested, scroll down for introductory blurbs and links to the stories.

A Scream in the Heartland

Trevor suddenly finds himself standing on a dirt road surrounded by cornfields, struggling farmers and one ex he’d rather forget. When he realizes something is very wrong, he takes off running, but — against his better judgment — he doesn’t do it alone.

Gretilde and Brummer

What would life be like for the husband of the witch in “Hansel and Gretel”? The story is disturbing enough as related in Grimm’s Fairy Tales, but it can get a lot . . . gristlier. Readers so far, however, have found this one to run counter to expectations.

Blood Sabbat

It’s warlocks versus witches as the battle of the sexes plays out in steel, diabolic magic and cunning. A black mass set in the age of witch purges quickly turns bloody, but who will remain standing when it’s over?

Gunmen in Black

As the last wars on the American frontier play out, a battlefield scavenger finds he isn’t alone in sifting among the dead. Bo “Bronco” Riley could care less about his dignity, but he would like to escape this close encounter with his life.

Thank you to Kelly Tompkins, editor of Keeping It Spooky, for publishing these stories, and to everyone who has read, clapped for, commented on or shared them. It means a lot.
